Film Poster Development 1

When designing the first poster for our thriller, I brainstormed what it is that our thriller is about, what kind of things will occur within it and characters that are involved.
I started by taking my own images of myself acting as if I had been murdered, using fake blood. I then edited the picture to make it look more dark and mysterious which fits the codes and conventions of a typical thriller.

I then looked at many different thriller posters to get influence on how to set out the poster information and make it look as realistic as possible.

I looked at Shutter Island and The Woman in the Fifth for influence and guidance for which images, text and layout would be most suitable.
I saw that most posters had a black and white colour theme and had very dark lighting in the images which influenced myself to edit dark shadows into my image and highlight the key features in it such as the face and the fake blood. I also noticed that the title of the thriller was typically bold and either centred or below the image on the poster.

Once I got influence from other thriller posters I could then decide what would be best for our thriller. I edited the writing onto the image and displayed the title, release date, credits and the tagline within the poster.
